First Original Sword Art Online Manga

Written by the series author, the "Girls' Ops" line focuses on the side characters of Sword Art Online in a manga format. You won't find Kirito or Asuna here with the focus instead on Liz, Silica, and Leafa. The plot is simple, the two lead characters are out of town and the three remaining want to complete a newly released quest in ALfheim Online. It's a mostly lighthearted tale, but becomes more serious when they run into another survivor of Sword Art Online, one who is still struggling with the aftereffects.

These are original stories not found in any of the novels with artwork very reminiscent of that found in the light novels albeit by a different artist. The art was one of my favorite things while reading this since the artist puts lots of background and sight gags that would be lost in a text form.

Not the best I've read, but with hooks that could lead to much greater stories in future volumes.

SAO: Girls' Ops Vol 1

This was a really good read! As someone who got into anime because of SAO, I've always had a special place in my heart for the series, despite the mistakes here and there that it's made. Nevertheless, I went into this manga with high expectations, and they were all met. I was once again introduced to some of my favorite supporting characters from the series, Liz, Silica, and Leafa, and got to see them, just hang out as friends. Kirito and Asuna play a very minimal role in the story, relegated to mentions only, as the spotlight is on the aforementioned trio and their adventures in Alfheim Online. If you enjoy SAO, you'll enjoy this manga.

Very interesting

I like a good comic reading but SAO reading for Gun Gale or the Death game gets my head out the show but reading the new spin off makes me happy with a bit of fan service. All you hear is Kirito this but not his real name Gazuto. But Girl Ops after you finish the reading you think they want to integrate a world without Kirito but pleasing fans by introducing a new character from the death game to the SAO universe.

The Author: Alan A. Block was a high school teacher for eighteen years, and presently is Professor of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. He is the author of three previous books, and has published extensively on matters of curriculum and classroom practice. He is a member of Beth Jacob Congregation in Mendota Heights, Minnesota.

It is like reading a book in a different language

if I could give negative stars I would here! The Author Alan Block creates his own words and readers are expected understand. It is like reading a book in a different language. I would come upon Words I have never heard so I would look them up in multiple dictionaries and these words were not in any of the dictionaries, not even online. You become more confused than before reading the book.

About the Author

Ruth Picker BA, FCA, FSIA, FCPA, is Global Leader, Global IFRS Services, Global Professional Practice, with Ernst & Young. Ruth has 29 years’ experience with Ernst & Young and has held various leadership roles during this time. Up until June 2009, Ruth was Managing Partner — Melbourne and the Oceania Team Leader of Climate Change and Sustainability Services. Prior to this role, Ruth was a senior partner in the Technical Consulting Group, Global IFRS and the firm’s Professional Practice Director (PPD) responsible for directing the firm’s accounting and auditing policies with the ultimate authority on accounting and auditing issues. She is a member of Ernst & Young’s Global IFRS Policy Committee.

Ruth’s authoritative insight and understanding of accounting policy and regulation was acknowledged through her appointment to the International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee (IFRIC), the official interpretative arm of the International Accounting Standards Board. She is currently a member of the IFRIC and the only Australian on that body.

Ruth was responsible for the preparation of Ernst & Young’s Corporate Governance Series (which includes guidance for directors and results of numerous corporate governance surveys) and subsequent advice to a number of entities in both the private and public sectors on the application of corporate governance.

Ruth has conducted numerous ‘Directors’ Schools’ for listed company boards. These schools were designed by Ruth and are aimed at enhancing the financial literacy of listed company board members. In November 2000, Ruth was awarded the inaugural ‘Lynne Sutherland Award’ — an Ernst & Young award created to recognise those people at Ernst & Young who contribute to the development and retention of women and who support and enhance the ability of Ernst & Young to attract and retain talented people.

Ken Leo BCom (Hons), MBA, has been an academic for over 40 years, including 20 years as Professor of Accounting at a University in Western Australia. During this time he has taught company accounting to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has been involved in writing books published by John Wiley & Sons since 1981, and has also written books and monographs for other organisations, including CPA Australia, Group of 100 and the Australian Accounting Research Foundation. As a founding member of the Urgent Issues Group in 1995, he served on this body until 2001. Janice Loftus BBus, MCom (Hons), is a senior lecturer in accounting at the University of Adelaide, South Australia. Her teaching interests are in the area of financial accounting and she has written several study guides for distance learning programs. Janice’s research interests are in the area of financial reporting. She co-authored Accounting Theory Monograph 11 on solvency and cash condition with Professor M.C. Miller. She has numerous publications on international financial reporting standards, risk reporting, solvency, earnings management, social and environmental reporting, and developments in standard setting in Australian and international journals. Janice co-authored Accounting: Building Business Skills  published by John Wiley & Sons. She is the editor of Financial Reporting, Regulation and Governance . Prior to embarking on an academic career, Janice held several senior accounting positions in Australian and multinational corporations.

Victoria Wise BCom, MEcon, PhD, FCPA, FPNA, is a Professor in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance at Deakin University, Australia. During her 20 years as an academic she has taught financial accounting and auditing to undergraduate, honours and postgraduate students. Victoria has more than 130 publications including books and book chapters, refereed and professional journal articles and conference proceedings. Her journal articles focus on international financial reporting standards, corporate governance and regulatory issues, and public sector and small business financial reporting. Her current research interests include corporate regulation and governance.

Kerry Clark BCom, CA, Executive Director — Technical Consulting Group, Global IFRS. Kerry has 17 years’ experience with Ernst & Young and is currently on secondment to the Ernst & Young Calgary office in Canada, assisting many of Canada’s largest oil and gas companies in their conversion to IFRS. Prior to this she was a key member of the Technical Consulting Group, Global IFRS in the Ernst & Young Melbourne office in Australia where she was responsible for advising clients on the application of IFRS to complex transactions. Kerry has been involved in the authoring of many Ernst & Young publications and Charter magazine articles and assisted Ruth Picker in conducting ‘Directors’ Schools’ for listed company boards. She has also spoken on accounting issues in many different forums.

Mystery on the Field

It wasn't surprising that this book started off with Nancy and her friends going somewhere to relax and have fun. Nor was it surprising that Nancy stumbled on to a mystery. What was surprising though, was how the auther manage to work a mystery into a Baseball Game. I still get amazed at how Nancy Drew figures out all these complicated problems and still saves the day. This time it's to help a star pitcher find his little girl and still win a game. I've been reading Nancy Drew for over 9 years now and I think that this one was one of the best!

An Exceptional Book by an Authentic Expert

My experience as an organizational and personal development professional working with groups and individuals has convinced me that the primary source of failures in leadership, management, and teamwork is the pervasive lack of self understanding, hence understanding of others, exhibited by leaders, managers, and staff in our organizations. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first book presenting a truly useful system to enhance and build such critical understanding--the Enneagram in a business context.

The most practical enneagram book out there for business applications

I love this book. I am an executive coach and I find this very useful for helping my Enneagram-aware clients apply the model directly and quickly to work situations -- to help debug relationships, communications, conflilct, etc.

I especially like Lapid-Bogda's distinctions and examples around "Pinch" and "Crunch" for each of the types.

I don't know of any other books except Michael Goldberg's "The Nine Ways of Working" that fill this business-application niche quite so well.

Highly recommended for those who need a practical, hands-on way of using the Ennegram in day to day work interactions.

A must-read

Objective, yet comprehensive. Practical, yet very solid in its concepts.

Lapid-Bogda has a solid background both in Organizational Development (OD) and the Enneagram, an outstanding tool for self-understanding/developing and relating better with others (the author is today the President of the International Enneagram Association). The result is a creative and useful bridge between these two areas, with stories, checklists and insights that will help practitioners on both sides. OD consultants with enrich their approaches with the use of the Enneagram; and Enneagram practitioners will find added-value to the current literature, through innovative chapters, which are divided per organizational problems, rather than per personality types.

In a brief: this book brings invaluable information for everyone who wants to achieve superior results for oneself and for others, creating a high functioning and conscious team at work.

Being an organizational consultant from Brazil, I can also add that the book's guidelines are universal.

About the Author
Keith Gregory Logan is an associate professor of criminal justice at Kutztown University and the editor/author of Homeland Security and Intelligence. A former federal law enforcement officer and security officer, he also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia and the Eastern District of Virginia. Dr. Logan is a member of the Upper Uwchlan Township Emergency Management Planning Commission and a former member of the U.S. Army Reserves, Major, Military Police Corps.

James D. Ramsay is professor and coordinator of the Homeland Security program at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Mitigating, managing, and recovering from a disaster

This is an interesting book; however, it fulfils its role as a textbook. The history of the department and its creation is interesting, but I expected more in terms policy and the cohesive interaction between various agencies both Federal and State operated. However guess the only way to get that sort of over view will be to keep up-to-date on the information, will be just keep scrutinizing the web.
