About the Author
Maria Mudassir is a Pakistani College Student studying in 13th grade. She is currently residing in Islamabad. Maria always felt the troubles of the teenagers to be of her own which is why she started writing inspirational poems at the age of 16, giving out pieces of advises and sharing her own feelings in words for them to relate to and feel like some-one understands. She writes poetry to give out advises, introduce her ideas and comfort her readers in their state of hopelessness and depression. “Family is who hold your hand when no one seems to understand you”.

Shedding light on my past!

Be A Spark: Seeking Light, by Maria Mudassir, is a great book of poetry that aims to bring hope to troubled teens.
I'm long past my teenage years now, but in reading this book I remembered certain times during my informative years where I was troubled. I acted out in some funny ways back then.
Some of the subjects Maria talks about in her book is, growing up with our own view of ourselves as well as how other people would see us during our awkward teenage years and not truly understand what teenagers are dealing with.
What she wants her readers to know is, she DOES understand your plight and hopes to inspire you to keep living, striving, and growing stronger! She wants to provide you with a spark of light during your darkest times.
Her overall message is, love oneself before loving another. Only then can you truly be powerful in heart, mind and soul!
But telling you this doesn't begin to describe her thoughts that went into her verses and the paths she traveled that brought her to writing these heart-felt messages of enlightenment and understanding.
If you are a teen in the dark, I urge you to read this book. Maybe one day you will, Be A Spark!
Maria is a kind, respectful, honorable woman who reaches out with, not only her words in this book, but with her heart and soul she puts into her writing.

An Uplifting Read

For those of you who may not be familiar with the work of Maria Mudassir, you're truly missing out on an extraordinary talent. Maria is a poet--a very prolific poet--who has assembled some fifty poems from her catalogue and compiled them in a collection entitled Be A Spark. Miss Mudassir writes poems of hope geared toward troubled teens. But one needn't be a teen to connect with the poet's words. These verses are infused with that spark mentioned in the title, a spark of light during dark and trying times in the lives of anybody who might be struggling with day-to-day living. Maria has been there; she's lived to tell you that things will get better, that life moves forward despite the darkness. Her verses flow in an easy cadence; the rhythm imbues each line with a message proclaiming something better is just ahead. I'd never heard of Maria Mudassir before I found this book. But I can say for certain that this woman pours her soul into her work. If you're looking for a book of hope, a read you can return to time and again, Be A Spark is the one.

Review:
The beginning of the book started out a bit slow. However, Ms. Maria Mudassir caught by full attention by the third poem called “Angel in the Dark.” Her writing spoke to me and took me on a quest to uncover the differences and similarities between the princess and the witch or to identify them both as one. The piece was very thought provoking and arranged as if it was an enigma poem.
As I continued to read, I found myself enjoying “The Scattered Pages.” The poem displayed the cruel realities of the world in regards to life that often turns into lesson-oriented realities. I was amazed how a young woman so young could have written poetry so beautiful. Maria showed that great poetry definitely has no age limit adorned to it.
I also recommend reading the following poems in Be A Spark: “Try Living in Me, The Scattered Pages, Who Said Kids Don’t Make Sense, Fog Eclipsing The Eye of My Mind, Dreams Outdoes the Use, and One True Love.”
