I have wished for years that someone would unleash a monograph on Alvin Lustig, and here it is. It does not disappoint. This books covers his whole career in detail, is profusely illustrated and well printed, and worth every nickel. Well done, Chronicle Books.

This beautifully produced and concise history of Alvin Lustig's life and career is fitting tribute to a designer who synthesized the spirit of his times. Words like "verve" and "flair" come to mind. Book also reveals the effortless wit and joy possible with graphic design. Lustig's style help put a stamp on what one thinks of when one thinks of a golden age of original American design. Terrific volume.
